Auto White Widow feminised Ganja Seeds
- Overview
White Widow is the iconic cannabis variety with a worldwide appeal. The strain rightfully bears its name due to its uncanny ability to produce countless trichomes coating buds and even the fan leaves. Ready to be harvested, the plant has the appearance of a Christmas tree wrapped up with snow. White Widow cannabis seeds have become a very popular choice for growers on every continent of the world.
When the Netherlands officially legalized the sale of marijuana in coffee shops, it was White Widow that was offered to every visitor. It remains one of the top ten most popular strains due to its powerful effects and citrus aroma.
The seed of the autoflowering feminized White Widow variety produces a fairly large bush forming a magnificent central cola studded with white crystals of trichomes. The plant develops medium-sized side branches, however, applying the low-stress training (LST) as well as SOG/SCROG techniques, you will succeed to harvest uniform and elastic buds.
The hybrid is highly resistant to pests and forgiving to novice growers' mistakes like overwatering. White Widow has been at the forefront of many breeders' efforts to create new cannabis strains. It's no wonder. The potency, and intensity of ripening and smashing effects make this strain a desirable plant for novice and experienced growers.
White Widow has been the proud winner of dozens of cups and awards. After taking the top prize at the 1995 Cannabis Cup, the whole world became familiar with this strain. The White Widow phenotype can be found in every reputable seed bank worth its salt.
By choosing this autoflowering cannabis variety, a grower can be sure that this strain will not require much attention in terms of care and application of various nutrients. Its flowering time will be exceptionally short – only 60-70 days from sprouting to harvest.
The White Widow Lineage
The history of White Widow is veiled with legends and mysteries. All the controversies about its origin trace back to two breeders nicknamed as Shantibaba and Ingemar. It is not really clear which of them was the actual creator of this superb cannabis strain. Despite the various speculations and conjectures, one fact is known for sure – the White Widow genotype was created by crossing the landraces of a Brazilian sativa and an indica plant native to the state of Kerala in southern India.
Growing White Widow
White Widow is exceptionally easy to grow and is an ideal option for gardeners with even a minimal background in cultivation. Autoflowering cannabis varieties require four essential conditions: soil (substrate), water, light and air (ventilation). Autoflowering White Widow plants can be fed with nutrients when they reach 45 days of the life cycle, but if the soil is purchased from a store, it will be enriched with all the necessary elements and if you overfeed the plant, it can get a chemical burn.
FYI: Keep in mind that autoflowering cannabis strains have a very short life cycle and simply will not have time to absorb all the microelements contained in the soil you purchase. It is a different story when you decide to grow a plant using only coco coir. In this case, you won't succeed without nutrients.
The hybrid is known for its robust and widespread root system. If a grower is not limited to the space of a grow tent and is morally prepared for a meter-long beauty, our recommendation is to choose 8-15-liter smartpots or airpots. With smaller pots, the plant won't be as tall. However, it will remain strong due to its decades of proven genetics.
Each breeder specifies the ultimate minimum cycle for a plant to reach full maturity. We recommend extending the growing period of feminized autoflowering White Widow by 5-10 days to achieve good yields and enjoy the beauty of the blooms.
FYI: The patient grower is advised not to cut the plant at the end of the cycle, but to leave it in complete darkness for 2-3 days. This will stress the plant and cause it to produce additional amounts of resin.
Growing White Widow Outdoors
Autoflowering cannabis seeds are not recommended to be planted directly in the soil. Start by moistening them in cotton pads and place them in a dark and warm place. In 1-2 days the cannabis seeds will germinate and show a tiny white root. Plant the germ in a Jiffy peat tablet or a plastic cup filled with soil. The planting depth should be equal to three seed lengths (1.3-3.8 cm). Make sure the seed is slightly covered with soil. The cup can be placed under a 10-30 Watt light bulb. This will speed up the growth process. In 4-6 days you will have a small baby plant ready to be transplanted into a permanent pot or outdoors.
Growing cannabis outdoors will not be a problem for the novice grower.
White Widow is characterized by excellent immune resistance and can easily handle excessive humidity. The strain is also resistant to fungus, mold and various pests.
Seedlings are planted in early to mid-May and harvested by mid to late July. It is enough to dig a small pit and fill it with a 20-liter bag of purchased soil. Choose the soil with the NPK value equal to 20x20x20 or close to the figures of 16x20x18. The values should be approximately the same, with a deviation ranging between 20-30%.
Water your plant when the soil is dry, but at least once or twice a week. This is usually enough to obtain a good yield. Under favorable conditions, you can expect a harvest of 50-150 grams of beautiful buds from a single plant.
Growing White Widow Indoors
Autoflowering feminized White Widow works wonders indoors. Provided a grower maintains the plant with a 10-15-liter pot, a decent crop of resinous buds will be harvested in 60-70 days.
Auto White Widow does not require excessive care. All you need to do is provide the plant with adequate air, light and water supply. It is often thought by novice growers that only High Intensity Discharge (HID) and LED lights are suitable for growing cannabis. There is no denying that they produce amazing outcomes. However, this hybrid will also thrive under 80-100 Watt energy-saving lamps (ESLs). There is one thing you should keep in mind: the light spectrum. The plant will need the cold spectrum during vegetation and the warm spectrum during the flowering phase.
FYI: Some growers managed to achieve a decent yield even with two 35 Watt household ESLs. Just don't forget to remove the light diffusers from the bulbs.
We recommend that you apply SOG/SCROG techniques during the vegetation stage to achieve the best possible yields. The minimum continuous light mode is 18/6 (i.e. 18 hours of light and 6 hours of darkness). The preferred mode is 20\4. Water your plant according to a schedule or when the soil dries out.
The strain performs tremendously when grown in hydroponic systems. During harvest, a grower will be surprised by a snow-white cannabis plant with dense buds, sticky as if they were dipped in honey.
White Widow Flavor and Effect
Autoflowering feminized White Widow offers an excellent balance of genetic characteristics as well as a diversity of flavors and aromas. Fire up the crushed buds of White Widow and you'll feel the distinctive indica earthiness with hashish, fruity and citrus notes laced with cedar, and a whopping 18% THC will ensure a smooth and long-lasting stone.
The effect is intense and confident. The first hit is followed by an explosive sativa high with a smooth transition to the indica stone. Thoughts stop racing and the body relaxes. The strain is perfect for meditative relaxation and leisurely walks.
White Widow can be related to medical cannabis strains. In addition to THC, the strain contains CBG (1%) and CBD (up to 1%), making its effects not only recreational but also helpful in the treatment of various conditions. It is prescribed for patients with depressive disorders, chronic stress, anxiety, insomnia, appetite disorders and chronic headaches.
Once a grower has decided to raise the autoflowering plant, the feminized Auto White Widow would be the best option. Its blend of simplicity combined with a high THC content and decent yields make this strain the best for both indoor and outdoor cultivation.
